Job Summary

This position provides non-medical in-home care for seniors. The goal is to support seniors to safely live in their own homes and enjoy quality of life.

Responsibilities & Activities

  • Assist with walking and light exercise
  • Plan and prepare meals, followed by clean-up
  • Monitor food expiration dates and prepare future meals
  • Make beds and change linens, as needed
  • Light housekeeping, including dusting and vacuuming
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Run errands (pick up prescriptions, dry cleaning)
  • Engage in physical and mental exercises
  • Provide medication reminders
  • Escort to appointments (hair salon, physical therapy, etc.)
  • Escort to religious services or events
  • Maintain calendar and organize mail
  • Engage in activities (games, memory books)
  • Companionship
  • Complete necessary care plan documents, time records, and other forms associated with client care

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be available to work a varying and flexible schedule; live-in or overnight situations are possible. Must be able to complete the necessary written and verbal training courses required to care for seniors in their own homes. Must have a valid driver's license.

Essential Physical Functions

  • Lift 50 lbs

  • Successfully complete a health evaluation, be free of communicable disease, and provide immunization records on a timely basis

Equipment Used

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Mobility equipment – wheelchair, walker, etc.
  • Transfer boards and gait belts

  • CPR certification
  • Auto insurance
